CONNECT WITH YOUR HEART (Day 3 – Remembering Your Fierce Heart Series)

CONNECT WITH YOUR HEART (Day 3 – Remembering Your Fierce Heart Series)

I’ve been talking about “listening” to our hearts, but how the heck do we actually connect with our hearts and know the difference between the head and heart?

To remember, and stay in your fierce heart you’ll have to reacquaint with her.

Most of the disconnection from our hearts is because many are living in a state of “survival” in fear, worry, anxiousness, overwhelm, agitation all of which cause an incoherence between the heart and the brain.

Good news it can take 60 seconds to create new levels of coherence…I tried lots of things and this was my saving grace.

Day 3: CONNECTING WITH YOUR HEART

Most of the disconnection from our hearts is because many are living in a state of “survival” in fear, worry, anxiousness, overwhelm, agitation all of which cause an incoherence between the heart and the brain.

I lived most of my life with either a wide-open-heart to pretty much everyone OR a heart on total lock-down with multiple layers of gates and chains.

There was no middle ground.

Once my heart was closed it would take weeks to open again. On the surface no one really noticed. I would remain loving to acquaintances and clients, but not to those I loved most (or myself).

I would find myself become increasingly BUSY, cleaning, working, watching TV, anything to avoid my feelings.

This became such a problem in my life (especially my marriage) that I sought out help.

I worked with various coaches to release old traumas which most likely contributed to these patterns.

They helped some, but the patterns were so DEEP that I kept finding myself going back to my old ways.

I started to personally explore more about the heart + soul.

I wondered how I could learn to “feel” more.

What’s ironic to me is that I actually “feel” so much and I am SO very sensitive which is why my heart would close down. (I find this common for many emotionally sensitive people, too much to feel)

This avoidance of my heart felt like it had been there for lifetimes, generations. I saw the pattern within my own mother, my father, and my grandparents.

I noticed that I used the word “think” instead of “feel” most often. Thank goodness for my love and husband for helping me to break into this awareness. It’s not easy to shift someone stuck in their patterns (babe, you are a true warrior in every sense of the word).

On a last whim, I started to study Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work on “Breaking the Habit Being Yourself” and I was amazed to realize that the energy field of the heart is much larger than the brain.

No wonder why my life felt so hard. I was using my brain and my heart field was very very small.

“The heart generates the largest electromagnetic field in the body. The electrical field as measured in an electrocardiogram (ECG) is about 60 times greater in amplitude than the brain waves recorded in an electroencephalogram (EEG).”

HeartMath studies show this powerful electromagnetic field can be detected and measured several feet away from a person’s body and between two individuals in close proximity.

I learned about the The Quick Coherence® Technique for Adults that was coined by the Heart Math Institute which is a 60 second technique to bring your heart and brain into coherence. You can read more about it here (link below) .

I practiced (using this technique) for months to FEEL my heart.

I practiced asking her what she wanted.

I did what she asked.

I learned that the heart needs space to answer.

She is VERY different than the mind, her wisdom comes up, not down.

And so we developed a new relationship. We dated for a while and now we are happily married.

Try this 60 seconds TO HEART CONNECTION

1. Hands over heart. Breath 10 x into the heart.

2. Think of something you are grateful for. Breath in 10 more times to activate.

3. Ask what she wants to tell you. If nothing, try again the next day.

4. Go back to doing what you were doing. Your heart and head are now coherent.

If you prefer to be guided here is a quick audio that leads you through this in the in the comments.

The heart holds another level of wisdom for you. Once paired with the brain wisdom there is much less confusion and inner conflict. It’s one thing to KNOW ourselves on an intellectual level, and another thing to KNOW ourselves on an emotional level.

The mind solves problems in a much more linear way. The heart however is more like what happens when you untangle a ratty necklace. Go slow, and one thing leads to another. It’s an organic process with layers. One knot begins to unwind the rest of the knots. The heart is more like that, she knows where to start.
